Measures at Osawa Alluvial Fan Area

①Measures by the valleys
These measures prevent riverside erosion due to debris flows.
②Iwadoi Observation Posts
These posts take images of debris flows and collect data necessary for debris flow analysis, such as flow rates and water level.
③Groundsills
Groundsills allow for safe deposition of debris, thus preventing the movement of sediment downstream.
④Sediment-control Forest Zone
Sabo forests by the riverbed will be properly managed in order to improve the function of the sand basins.
⑤Excavated sediment trap works
These trap works are there to keep the fine particles from flowing downstream.
⑥Stockyards
These stockyards temporarily trap the sediments deposited after a debris flow, which can then be used as a block production yard.
⑦Forest Zone Reinforcement Work
Steel slits are installed to prevent boulders mixed in debris flow from hitting the sabo forests directly.
⑧Training Levee
These levees prevent debris flows from entering fields, houses, forests, etc.
⑨ River Channel Works
This sturdy flow channel with 3 concrete surfaces prevents the erosion of riverbeds and riverbanks due to floods, let the water flow downstream without much difficulty.
